About
Hi, I’m Kristen.
I have a website with my name because I’m an author and honestly, I didn’t know what else to call it. I write full time. Every single morning at 5 AM, I’m writing, 365 days a year. No breaks. No time off. This is what I do, and I’m not complaining at all. I know how lucky I am to spend my life creating stories.
My published works include my debut novel, When Margaret Was Here. This novel explores grief, loss, love, and the complicated emotions that come with losing someone you had a difficult relationship with.
One common misconception about this book is that it was written about one specific person struggling with substance abuse. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The novel is written from the perspective of someone who loves and loses a person to addiction, and it is not based on just one individual.
As a writer, it’s true that personal experience can inspire what we create, but what many people outside the creative world don’t always realize is that experience is only one piece of it. Imagination, inspiration, observation, emotion, and storytelling all play a huge role, sometimes even more than reality itself.
Unfortunately, I lost many friends in my younger years to drugs, alcohol, and mental illness. When Margaret Was Here became a way to pour many of those emotions, memories, and experiences into one story.
The next novel I want to talk about is Moonveil Saga. I fought hard for the time and opportunity to write this series. It is a complete 180 from my debut novel and goes in an entirely different direction. While When Margaret Was Here is grounded literary fiction, Moonveil Saga is a light novel inspired by anime, science fiction, action, and adventure.
I’m incredibly grateful for my team, especially the illustrators who helped bring my characters and ideas to life. I also appreciate all the kind feedback and support I’ve received from readers. I know many of you have been asking about the next installment, and all I can say right now is I have news coming soon.
I truly appreciate every subscription and every message I receive. Subscribing is completely free, and hearing from readers genuinely means a lot to me.
More news to come. Happy Spring 🌸
Love,
KL
